Augmented Lagrange Methods and their Application
to Inverse Problems using H1- und L2-Norms.

Abstract

Convergence properties of Augmented Lagrange methods for constrained optimization are discussed in Euclidean space and Hilbert space. These methods are then used to estimate a parameter in an elliptic two-point boundary value problem. Numerical tests with simple examples are carried out using two distinct norms so that one can see some consequences of either choice.
