S1-streamsurface computation: MISES
Our S1-streamsurface projection and adjoint
steps are based on the cascade solver MISES, which has been developed by
Mark Drela and Harold Youngren at MIT.
MISES assembles and solves a coupled system of Q3D freestream
Euler equations with Coriolis- and centripetal forces
|
and integral Q3D-boundary-layer equations
|
|
The coupling is performed via displacement thickness and
freestream velocity where direct coupling has been made possible
by means of a q3D conservative streamtube curvature
discretization of the Euler equations.
Last, but by far not least there are some boundary conditions
(inlet-outlet, Kutta, wall, wake ...).

Example
S1-streamsurface Mach number distribution through compressor
blades as computed by MISES.
Problem size: about 12000 flow variables, 24 DOF (profile parameters).
